We are proud to announce that Dr. Bailey Havens has become a Certified Lymphatic Therapist (CLT) through her post graduate study with Klose Training.
This specialized certification is offered to doctors, nurses, physical therapists, and physical therapist assistants. Therefore, this certification is inclusive across the medical field. To gain this certification, the health care provider must complete an intensive 135-hour curriculum and pass a certification exam.
A CLT works with patients who have lymphedema. Some, not all, contributing factors leading to lymphedema include:
- Surgical removal of lymph nodes (cancer)
- Radiation therapy to the breast and underarm
- Trauma to the area of the body containing lymph nodes
- Infection
- Chronic Venous Insufficiency
- Obesity
What does Treatment consist of? Complete Decongestive Therapy
- Which includes:
o Compression bandaging
o Compression garments
o Manual lymphatic draining
o Therapeutic exercises
o Skin care
In addition to lymphedema, a CLT provides: Breast Cancer Management
- Oncology rehabilitation consists of:
o Creating a personalized resistance and aerobic training program unique to the individual
o Ability to enhance shoulder joint mobility, decrease pain, and improve range of motion
o Address axillary web syndrome (if present)
o Address weakness, fatigue (common after radiation), and any balance impairments
If you are suffering from any such issues, then an assessment may be right for you!
